Mariah Carey performs in the Macy’s Parade — and the internet’s reaction is hilarious

Self-proclaimed “Queen of Christmas” Mariah Carey performed at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, and the internet is having a field day with her show.

Wearing a massive pink dress with an umbrella, Mariah sang her iconic tune “All I Want for Christmas” accompanied by dancers.

As usual, Mariah stood still during her performance and did not join in the dancing.

Sports journalist Ian Hest wrote: “Mariah Carey is getting paid millions to stand there with her umbrella right now, and honestly, I’m not mad. Crazy respect.”

“I love the lack of energy that Mariah Carey gives in her performances. It’s the one thing we can all count on.” Twitter user Nick Russo he said.

“Mariah Carey gets paid to just stand there at the thanksgiving parade and not even pretend she’s actually singing the backing track lmfao queen behavior,” another person he tweeted.

Other users joked that the chart-topping pop star had come “from hibernation” and “thaw” just in time for Christmas.

Many made fun of Mariah for lip-syncing her performance, but her fans pointed to John Legend’s tweet of 2018 in conflict.

“Fun fact. We all have to lip sync at this show because the floats don’t have the capacity to handle the sound demands of a live show. I hope you enjoyed it anyway. Please know that if you come to my show, the vocals are 100 % alive!” he said at the time after taking heat for the same thing.

“There’s no way a single artist won’t be performing live at this show, but people are mad at Mariah for it. Are you all ok???” another Twitter user she said in her defense.
