Elon Musk said in a tweet on Friday that Twitter will launch its long-delayed “Verified” service next week, with different colored checks depending on account type.

Twitter’s CEO said there would be a “gold check” for companies, a gray one for government accounts and the existing blue one for individuals, celebrity or not.

All verified accounts will be “manually verified” before the review is activated, Musk said.

The billionaire called the move “painful but necessary”

Musk’s comments come after he was forced to suspend Twitter’s $8-a-month service Blue, which allowed anyone to pay for a blue verification tick subscription, after users abused the system by impersonating brands and famous people.

The CEO said Monday that Twitter will delay the relaunch of its $8-a-month Blue Verified service. At the time, Musk said Twitter would ‚Äúprobably use [a] a different color check for organizations than individuals.”

Now he has revealed the details of what it could look like.

Musk previously said he plans to relaunch Twitter Blue on November 29. Musk’s latest timeline lists the relaunch as December 2nd.

The subscription service is Musk’s attempt to find a new source of revenue for Twitter as part of the billionaire’s controversial shakeup at the social media firm.

Musk fired thousands of employees on Twitter, asking remaining workers to commit to “long, high-intensity hours” or leave.
