Cristiano Ronaldo sat down with Tom Rinaldi to share who plans to cement his legacy by bringing the 2022 FIFA World Cup to Portugal.

Earlier, Switzerland took three points in Group G after taking care of business against Cameroon, winning 1-0 to open the day, while Uruguay and South Korea battled to a goalless draw in the day’s second game. Both teams grabbed one point for their efforts in Group H.

Ronaldo had a chance to give Portugal the lead early on with this header but failed to connect. He caught some air as he did so.

Ronaldo connected on the half-hour mark but the goal was promptly disallowed for a foul on Ghana defender Alexander Djika. It remained goalless until halftime.

Setting the stage

Group H took center stage again on Thursday, with all eyes on Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 37-year-old shocked the sporting world this week when news broke about him he left his club, Manchester United, by mutual consentand that he was suspended and fined Association football for two matches with whichever club he lands with next. Ronaldo skipped his media duties as national team captain at the official FIFA press conference on Thursday, but fans still flocked to support the star.

History in the making

With a win, it would be Portugal’s first World Cup opener since 2006. Ronaldo also tied the men’s record for appearing in five different World Cup tournaments earlier Thursday.
